HRBB is proud to announce the publication of our latest book, "Right to Origins is a Human Right: Dialogues with Adoptees on Their Search for Truth" by Dr. Kyung-eun Lee.
In 2020, HRBB initiated the Dialogues with Adoptees project, providing information on intercountry adoption laws, policies, and practices affecting 200,000 adoptees from South Korea across 14 receiving countries in North America, Western Europe, and Australia.
From May 2021 to January 2024, HRBB published a weekly column in The Korea Times, alternating between Kyung-eun Lee and guest writers. You may read the guest writers' articles at Dialogue with Adoptees.
About the Book
Published in 2024 with funding from the South Korean Catholic charity foundation Babonanum, "Right to Origins is a Human Right" compiles Dr. Lee's writings from the column. This book offers a concise overview of the historical context of Korea's adoption program and explores the growing demand among adoptees for truth, justice, and the right to know their origins.
We invite you to explore this important work, which sheds light on the complex issues surrounding intercountry adoption and the fundamental human right to understand one's origins.
